Mission Moon Lego

Ms. Walsh’s Junior Infants were chosen to be part of the Mission Moon  Project. This was a pilot project run by LEGO that focuses on Science, Technology, the Arts, Engineering and Maths. There were only two schools chosen to take part in Ireland, so we were extremely lucky. For the past ten weeks the children learned lots of interesting facts about space, rockets and the moon. They designed and built space stations, rockets and moon rovers. During each lesson the class worked as part of a team discussing, deciding, designing and building their creations. By the end of the programme the class had created amazingly detailed space stations and rockets. They even designed and built fabulous ramps to transport their space rovers from one space station to another.  To celebrate their achievements the class visited St Patrick’s DCU campus to demonstrate their skills in a LEGO show case. There were visitors from Denmark and Britain who work for LEGO and they were amazed at the detail and designs of the children’s structures. Well done to all the children, Ms. Walsh and Ms. Bennett for all their hard work over the ten weeks.
