We hope you are all keeping safe and well. We have created another plan of activities on the theme of "Life on Planet Earth and Taking Care of the Environment". There is a range of subjects and activities from which to choose. Whichever you choose to do we encourage you to do it at your child's own pace.

World Bee Day

Did you know it was World Bee Day on May 20th?

It is important that we continue to keep 2 metres distance between ourselves and other people when we are out doors. This can be difficult for young children to understand.If you haven't had a chance yet we recommend watching the following two videos. They explain physical (social) distancing for young children.

The 30 Day Lego Challenge.	This is the last week of our Lego Challenge. Let’s see what amazing things you can build! Design and build you dream bedroom. What would have in your dream bedroom? Keep sending your photos in, we love to see your creations.
Activities	A Challenge! Can you write your name using your hand that you don’t write with? It’s really difficult! Have a few goes. It looks like a spider tried writing your name!
	Tuesday 26th May

Literacy	We miss hearing the wonderful stories you write in school. Today we would love if you could write a story for us. This link might help you. http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/story-starters/ Choose what type of story you would like to write about from the four options and click on it. Then click in K-1st. To help you get started with you story, click on the buttons and it will give you a sentence to begin with. If you don’t like that sentence just click again! !Remember to give your story a title and a beginning, a middle and an end.
Art/Music	Do you know what a self-portrait is? It’s a painting or picture that the artist has done of themselves, a bit like a selfie! Look at the attached page to see some of the most famous self-portraits by famous artists. Now we want you to have a go at doing your own self-portrait. Good luck!

Literacy	Listen to the story below called The Boy and the Starfish. https://youtu.be/PkV0jvmBLOc Pretend you are the boy on the beach with hundreds of starfish (sea stars). Would you try to throw some of the starfish back into the sea?Write down a reason why you would or would not try.
Art/Music	Look at the attached sheet called Sea Stars of the World. There are many many types of Sea Stars. Can you draw and decorate your favourite one?
SESE/SPHE	This week we are going to explore Africa. Africa is one of the 7 continents. 	Thursday 28th May
Maths	Play the addition and subtraction mental maths train. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/mental-maths-train Challenge Question: John has 8 sweets and Ann has 6 sweets. Can you think of a way that they could have equal amounts?
Literacy	Write a Report: Africa is home to many amazing animals. Read attached sheet: Animal fact file Which one is your favourite? Can you write a short report on that animal?
