January in Room 3

January in Room 3

There was a cold start to January in Room 3 as the boys and girls learnt about the Arctic. They wrote some fantastic reports on polar bears and drew some wonderful polar bear pictures using chalk. We also read the story Nanooka's Magical Garden and learnt about the Inuit's who live in the arctic. We investigated how fat keeps polar bears warm in freezing waters and we had great fun melting ice with hot water and salt.

During Aistear we learnt all about the work of the vet and how they keep pets healthy. We also read the story The Smartest Giant in Town and then we dressed our own giant using different fabrics.

The children have been very active all month. they have been doing 10@10 almost every day and GAA training every week. They have also regularly been the best class in the lunch line and earned 15 minutes extra playtime.
