Doughnuts and Dumplings in Room 4

Room 4 went home with full stomachs today as they learnt about two important festivals.

In the morning they learnt all about Tsagaan Sar, Mongolian Lunar New Year. A joyous occasion that marks the coming of spring.

They were very lucky to treated to some lovely Mongolian sweet milk and dumplings made by one of our Room 4 families. They were delicious!!!

In the afternoon, they learnt about the Christian Tradition of Fat Thursday, celebrated in some European countries such as Poland, Germany, Italy and Greece. It is a day dedicated to eating foods and feasting with family and friends before fasting begins at Lent.

In Poland it is called tlusty czwartek and among the most popular dishes served are paczki or Berliners which are fist sized doughnuts filled with jam.

They also really enjoyed these!!!
