New Primary School Curriculum

New Primary School Curriculum

"developments in education nationally and internationally, as well as changes in our society have created an impetus to reimagine the future for Ireland’s children and citizens. This has been the focus of the work of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) in recent years" The Primary Curriculum Framework | NCCA

For a brief overview of the development process of the Primary Curriculum Framework, the key messages that underpin it, the components of a redeveloped Primary School Curriculum read the Information Note for the Primary School Curriculum Framework

As part of the development of the Primary School Curriculum, the NCCA is consulting on the Draft Primary School Specifications. The aim of this consultation is to obtain open and honest views of all stakeholders: children, parents, teachers and school leaders and other interested parties. Your feedback will inform the work of the NCCA in preparing the final specifications.

The NCCA welcome your feedback on the Specifications in the following curriculum areas:

  • Arts Education
  • Modern Foreign Language in the Primary Language Curriculum
  • Social and Environmental Education including
    • People, Place and Space
    • Environmental and Sustainable Living
    • Exploration of the World
  • Science, Technology and Engineering

You will find the Draft Specifications for these subject areas here Consultation 2024 | NCCA
