On Tuesday we had a very special visitor to our school, the Sam Maguire Cup!! All the boys and girls were so excited to meet the famous trophy won by Dublin in October last year at Croke Park. We were all delighted to get a chance to lift the trophy and some of the teachers were very excited to get to lift it as well! We loved having Sam in our school but next year we hope he can make his way to a different county, hopefully somewhere like, oh I don’t know, maybe Mayo?!
We have had a busy month here in room 4. Our parents and some grandparents came in to read with us to celebrate World Book Day. Thank you all for coming in. We also have been enjoying reading with Ruth, our reader in residence. We have perfected our judging faces!! Our favourite books have been “This Book Just Ate My Dog,” “The Lonely Beast,” and “The Pigeon Needs a Bath.” We then enjoyed a trip to the Ilac Library and are looking forward to using our new library cards. A big thank you to Ruth for choosing such excellent books and showing us around the library.
As part of our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations we enjoyed making St. Patrick’s day milkshakes with Ms. Dowdall as gaeilge. Bhí siad an-bhlasta! Ms. Dowdall also taught us the Haka Gaelach which we showed off at assembly. Finally we got to work on our bodhrán skills. We had so much fun.
